Work Rights During Studies
When you are in Australia on a student visa, you are permitted to work for 40 hours per fortnight. Please note, the 40 hours limit applies when your course is in session.
However, you can work for an unlimited number of hours during your vacations. If you are studying master’s degree or PhD degree, there is no limit on working hours.
Work rights for your spouse
If your spouse is travelling with you to Australia on the dependent visa, she/he can work for a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight throughout the year. If you are studying at a Master’s or PhD level, your spouse can work full-time once your main course starts.
